Feedback

Hi all,
I entered the sitcom mission and got a really detailed, helpful bit of feedback as a result. Does anyone know of a company/individual that offers a similar feedback service?

Actually, more to the point. Has anyone actually used such a service where some professional comment on a script, and if so, would you recommend them?

I know that there's a critique area here, but I'm really looking for the sort of decent, detailed professional criticism.
Thanks
Neil

Marc Blake. At least he used to, probably still does.

Well thanks for the insult!

But yes there's lots. Dave Cohen, Mark Blake, Euroscript etc.

Google them.

But it ain't cheap. Frankly I'd have the humility to get some free feedback and then pay when you think you're ready.

That or if you can find a decent writers group to read through your script.
LCW in London is excelent.

Danny Stack is very good; not sure if he does half hour sitcom scripts, but look him up.

Euroscript are probably the most all in. They do courses and diferent levels of feedback and an awful lot of professional writers work with them.

Dave Cohen's a thoroughly nice guy and I think does feedback, worth atleast dropping him an email.

Oh shit, hey I meant no criticism of the critique bit of the website and the people, like yourself Sooty, who do lots of critiquing on it...probably got me up to speed with my ability to write sketches.

It's just that, the feedback I got from one of the guys in SitcomMission was two and a half pages long and very detailed. I wouldn't expect anyone to expend that sort of time on one of my scripts without getting paid.

Wasn't Michael Jacob setting up such services?

No worries I just remember a certain well known script reader, being quite shame faced about some of the stuff they were paid to read.

Believe me, I take as much feedback as I can paid for or free. Meant no offence.

As you know that you already rate this person who supplied the original feedback, why don't you contact the Sitcom Mission and see if they'll put you in touch with them, or at least give them your details for them to contact you, as long as you make it clear that you're looking to pay for the service. More than likely this person is a freelancer who writes reports on a regular basis, who would be happy to work with you on a one to one basis.

Yes indeed, I'm happy to read scripts and provide a detailed critique, based on a 21-year-career which spans script editing, producing and executive producing TV comedy, first with Alomo Productions and then at BBC Television. I'm also happy to discuss the notes, charge a reasonable fee, and offer a deal on two episodes from the same potential series. If a script has production potential, then I can talk to a range of producers and development people across the industry about it. If anyone is interested in any of this, please PM me.

I can personally vouch for Micheal. He's taught me a great deal over the years and what he doesn't know about putting a professional script together could be written on a flea's phallus.

Mickey J's the way!

(You can have that slogan for free Micheal. I know, I'm all heart. No need to thank me.)
