Yeh 100% sure its British.
I had a good search around before I posted here and came up blank.
My memory of this show is obviously missing something crucially important.

Not British or from the time period you mentioned but could it have been called "Sit down, Shut up". A very short lived Aussie comedy from about 11 years ago.
Not sure it would have aired outside of Australia, it never rated well. I can't remember anything about it except that it was set in a school. I actually thought it was a New Zealand show until I looked it up just now, and that was to make sure it wasn't a figment of my imagination.
