Stewart Lee Page 24

I also wish I could enjoy Stewart Lee but I just don't. The smug, superior persona he presents just puts me off. The fact that he's only pretending to be a wanker doesn't make me any more inclined to watch him - I'm still watching a wanker, even if he's nice at home and in interviews. I also find his 'plagiarist corner' thing on his website really obnoxious - there's a difference between stealing a joke and doing a joke on the same subject or in a similar style.

It's obviously a joke.

He compares Dave Chappelle's refusal to tell more than one joke in a 45-minute set to "Stewart Lee, onstage 1989-present".

he's updated it since I looked at it, then. It just had the lee and herring book compared to the now show book and something about Steve Coogan and Russell Brand. It certanly didn't look like a joke when I saw it

There is one of him ripping someone else off, isn't there?

From Stewart Lee Myspace page:

"CELEBRITY MASTERMENSCH
Please be advised that my appearance on Celebrity Mastermind is due to be broadcast on Monday 4th January at 1900 on BBC One. My specialist subject is the guitarist Derek Bailey."

There, I've spoiled everybody's fun now.

That's a very narrow subject. I only have one question. Who is Derek Bailey ?

Stewart Lee scares the bejasus out of me. He has this really intimidating, almost aggressive intelligence coupled with devastating wit that makes all around him look like gibbering neanderthal halfwits.

Oi who are you calling a Neanderthal half-wit ? The trouble with deconstruction is that you end up with nothing.

A guitarist.

Correct.

You should have seen him answer questions on him: scary!

I was unaware of this, has anyone got a link to the story? (I have Googled, but with no success)

He has one on his own site; it's tongue in cheek.

Interesting fact about Stewart Lee; as Stoke Newington's most famous resident, the local council recently had a giant rocket ship built in his image to ferry the town's most influential figures to the nearest habitable planet in the event of a global catastrophe. In fact, if you look closely at the below image you'll see TV's Morph staring out of the rocket's groinal porthole...

Is this true!?
