Dwarfers unite... time for a mark two? Page 2

Very little extra?

A whole new episode voiced by Chris Barrie? A load of commentaries with Doug Naylor and Ed Bye? A Grant Naylor interview unearthed from years ago? A fascinating insight into GN getting screwed over having rescued Spitting Image? Two full 75 minute documentaries covering RD1 and 2 AND BBC comedy making in general. And loads more.

It's worth it, believe me.

If that's the one that includes Comedy Connections, C***S!

Sorry, an obscure grudge. :)

Hmmm - explain!

I doubt it would make much sense, so to summarise, the fact it's out on DVD has caused a bit of hassle elsewhere, for a number of reasons. Nothing overly interesting, don't worry!

If we can let go aged doctors coming back for cameos i'm sure a quick, no to be continued crap, film could give us a happy ending.

I agree it's too late to do anything else... a mark 2 would just annoy.

I've always been a little upset they never went back and brought closure to everything that was meant to happen as suggested by 'stasis leak' even though that conflicted with some of the suggestions made by 'future echoes'.

..oh god... I've become a nerd.

Anyway, I think they got a little greedy during season 8 and tried to set themselves up for more. 8 in my opinions, was a bit of a return to form from season 7 but not completely. resurecting the crew was a fun idea, but if they couldn't get Peterson and Hunter it was a bit stretchy to go down that path. In fact, after the huge break from series 6 and missing half the writing duo, they'd have taken the safe bet and plotted and nice wrap up for the series in general...

But that's television for you...

We don't all have rich fairy god fathers (like Gilligan's Island did) who say "what a shame those people never made it home, infact, wait here's some money, go bring 'em back and end this thing properly."

How come Aaron?

Long ish, very boring story. Just cause a bit of awkwardness and annoyance, not interesting to anyone other than myself and a few others! :)

T-shirts available.

Here.

I haven't got shares, honest!

I think the only option for this show is a Reboot like Battlestar Galactica or what Star Trek is currently doing. Take the show and give it to a new group of good and funny writers and I think the show could be a hit. But in my opinion continuing the story would be a bad idea.

I don't think rebooting it would work. Battlestar Galactica works brilliantly because they redid it as a hard hitting drama with some sly things to say about the war on terror. Trying to do the same with a comedy is always doomed to failure, as the Ant and Dec remake of The Likely Lads proved. And Paul Merton's remakes of some Galton and Simpson scripts a few years back fell flat. Plus, we had eight series of Red Dwarf, that's more than enough for any comedy fan.

Plus Red Dwarf was based around two writers. When they brought others in in Series 7 the show nosedived in terms of quality.

I still think a very funny reboot of the show could be done. Send it over to the Stargate folks from the last few seasons of SG1 it seems to me those writers are just dieing to write comedy. I'd watch it!

It must get very lonely over in Canada.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Joking aside, Canada's seems like quite a nice place to live. They certainly don't seem to have the problems with their young folk that we have in this country.

I don't think there will ever be a new series of Red Dwarf, it's been far too long since the last series ended.

However, I don't think (or should that be hope) that it wont be the last we see of Red Dwarf. There has always been the possibility of a RD Movie and I think that one day this will go ahead, just not with the 'real' actors.
