British Comedy Guide

The Future is Now..?

What event or object made you feel like "The Future is Now" ?

Was it remote controlled TVs? The Pot Noodle or the VHS player? Was it the launch of the microwave or maybe even Channel 5?

For me it was "The British Invasion" into American comics, the launch of the Playstation (games on CDs!) games console, the internet and mobile phones that didn't look like large bricks. The first Matrix movie (even though it ripped off Grant Morrisons 'The Invisibles') and the first time I saw a (shit) film at an Imax cinema.....When everything went digital too....thats when I thought: The Future is NOW :O

When I went off in my time-machine.

Whenever people use those jetpack thingies.

I'm still not sure whether they're actually real or not...

Oh God, the future isn't now, is it? How depressing

It was AJGO but I am afraid you missed it.

Well it wouldn't be the news of the world, it's become the sun on sunday.

Do keep up!

Ugh

I remember getting a video recorder (actually a little time before they came on general sale - but that's another story) and my father asking how much it was to have the tapes developed.
The future was then.

The iPhone is sorcery. That is all.

When I saw a James Cotter performance.

Depends what kind of future. Dystopia or Utopia?

The iPod was pretty much the limit of my imagination; since then it has been a nightmare dystopia in which I am increasingly unable to keep up with the pace of technological change and have become as redundant as an eighteenth century handloom weaver.

The AOL search data leak was a real 'Big Brother is here' moment for me.

Plug and play. Just buying a gadget, plugging it in and it works. A miracle.

About the only things where that happens for me are mice and keyboards. Every other thing needs bloody installing.
