My first attempt at making a Chicago-style deep dish pizza. There's a lot of cheese and sausage under the sauce; Chicago pizza ingredients are added in the reverse order of regular pizzas.

I'll give myself 1:10 odds that I can get it out of the pan in one piece.

Did you buy one of those special stones you can put in your oven to make the pizza all 'stone baked'?

Nice! I have never had a deep dish pizza. It sounds like a dream. Deep pan (over here at least) seems to mean thick crust. Which is weird. I want more topping than bread.

This idea of a flaky crust is new to me. I'm not saying it's not nice. I'm just very used to doughy/soft pizza bases. You don't get many (or I haven't seen any) restaurants advertising their "flaky" crusts.

I did make myself a puff pastry pizza not long ago though and that was very nice. I don't normally follow the serving suggestions on the box but on that occasion I did not regret it.

It's probably not the done thing with pizza purists(?) but I bloody love a stuffed crust.
