I feel lucky that the worst that happened to me during that time was that the road out of the town where I was on holidays got cut off for a day and that a few weeks later when they hit the city I live, I just couldn't go to work for a day or so.

It must be extremely devastating in rural communities where everyone sort of knows everyone else.

I do admire the way Australians just pick themselves up and carry on after any of these major disasters. It shows a lot of strength of character.

I think DaButt was also complaining about the heat from his part of the world earlier in the thread.

We've had a very mild winter so far in North America. It's a little chilly now but there hasn't been any snow/ice/frost so far here in San Antonio and the trees are getting ready to bloom. Looks like we'll be back to 77F/25C in 3 or 4 days.

I'm sick of the snow and ice now. The ground here is lethal.

Went to the thearte last night, off to the pub tonight. Hopefully, I won't get snowed on this evening.

How is standing out in -4C weather to smoke a cigarette good for my health?

Think of all that crisp fresh air in between lung fulls of Tar, Arsenic, Benzene, Cadmium, Formaldehyde, Polonium-210, Chromiums 1,3-Butadiene, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, Nitrosamines and Acrolein.

:)

Mmmmm, Tar, Arsenic, Benzene, Cadmium, Formaldehyde, Polonium-210, Chromiums 1,3-Butadiene, Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, Nitrosamines and Acrolein-y
;)

:D

Just heard a strange noise outside and when I went out to check on it I was pelted with frozen precipitation. Just a little sleet but I heard that it's snowing about 125 miles north of here. Such weird weather: Tuesday it's supposed to be almost 80.

I think I remember warmth...

16 degrees! 16 degrees! 16 degrees!

88F/31C here today. Neener neeener. :P

Nothing can spoil my wearing-shorts-and-a-waistcoat mood :)

Foolishly, I went out this morning wearing a thick winter jacket and gloves. By the time I arrived back home, my T-shirt was literally glued to my body with sweat.

That's not too foolish seeing as it is February. But it's still 16 degrees!! Pub garden here I come...

My dad got attacked by a bee, apparently. It is officially summer!
