Never, ever fall for that trap. Women love cards and gifts, even if they expressly tell you that they don't - they do.
Quickly run out and buy her a nice card and a cheap gift.
My girlfriend does get gifts, flowers, etc. Sometimes I write a poem or take her out for a meal. She knows I love her. Eight years and counting so I must be doing something right. Besides it was her idea to ignore Valentine's Day. We celebrate our anniversary every month, we call it "going for a Happy Meal", and no, that does not mean a trip to McDonalds because we are vegetarian.
In previous relationships I found Valentine's Day to be a pain in the neck. Restaurants too crowded and noisy, etc.
I was brought up with no father and my mum was determined not to raise "another male bastard". So I don't need Valentine's Day to provide guilt. I feel guilty all year round just for having a dick!
