Children's comic strip dealing with death?

Can such a combination work? I leave that for you to decide, but my brother and I have at least tried to create a daily comic strip for both children and adults that deals with death, grief and loneliness between gags.

I would be very grateful if you had the time to check it out and share your opinion. =)

Nice work guys. Really well drawn and nice characters.

Can't believe no one has commented yet ,particularly the site ladies as I think the strips would appeal to the girls more.

My favourite was the one where the father and son were looking out the window each wishing they were each other.

Good luck

That is beautifully drawn; I am not totally sold, but the best comic strips are always slow burn. I have certainly seen less instantly appealing strips syndicated.

This is really cool.

Beautiful artwork, sweet way of dealing with a horrible subject, gentle humour.

I'd reccomend it to some of my friends who work with kids.

But why promot it here of all places?

Thanks a lot to both Will Cam, Timbo and sootyj for your encouraging comments!

(Btw, since my English is far from perfect, don't hesitate to point out spelling mistakes or faulty grammar at the site. That's just helpful to us).

To answer your question, sootyj, we finished the English version of our site just a few days ago and when googling for English speaking forums I ended up here. =)

If you have tips of good websites to visit in search for feedback we would gladly hear them. =)

Yep, it's good stuff. Like a soft version of Calvin & Hobbes. Not my kind of thing, although I do like the dealing with death stuff. As Timbo said, it's better than some of the crappy comics in the papers.

I thought it was lovely - Calvin & Hobbes sprang to my mind, too, but that's no bad thing. Beautiful artwork, and well paced and balanced lines - great grasp of (US) English rhythms, too, I don't think I can offer any advice linguistically!

I think some of them are a tiny bit mawkish for my tastes, it gets a wee bit Clinton Cards one or two times, but in essence I'd say you dealt with the bereavement issue really well: funnily enough it's the cutely sententious ones that *aren't* about the mother's death that I find sentimental (eg catching the cloud), the ones about the mother work well.

In short, excellent stuff, really good luck with it.

Echo what gappy said. The cartoons were clear, concise, looked professional and the theme was consistent and conveyed well but a little too saccharine at points for me. The website looks good too, doesn't waste any time in presenting the cartoons.

Hope you find a market for them.

:)

These are really sweet, I would recommend to friends. It reminded me a little of the 'Love is..' comics which I loved as a girl.

Good luck with it.

Excellent! Really excellent work.

Yeah, these are pretty special. Just the right side of whimsical. Well done.

Thank you so much for your comments!

It's really uplifting to get this kind of response.
It seems and feels like what we have tryed to accomplish with this comic is also whats coming through to you.

I must admit that some of the stuff you are comparing us with, like Clinton Cards and "Love is", are things that I haven't heard about before - but I consider any kind of comparison with Calvin and Hobbes to be a great honor. :)

Love is stuff here.

I really like it.. thoughtful and well-crafted, with lots of charm.

A "Waking Life" lucid dreaming connection?

Good stuff. I'll post your link elsewhere.

Excellent.
