Had she actually done anything recently? She was massive in the '80s and '90s.
I know she had an album out a year or two back.

Quote: Shandonbelle @ February 12 2012, 11:29 AM GMTWhoever that is rwayne, RIP, but not sure what point you are making putting a private unknown individual on the Whitney Houston thread, if it's real that is?
RIP to Whitney Houston.
It is indeed real, the notice is from Yorkshire Post newspaper family notices.
I just wanted to express my respects at his passing.
RIP Mark.

You certainly showed the idiots on this thread a thing or two!

If you knew him, I'm sorry for your loss, but if you are just making a comment on how people die all the time so Whitney Houston's not all that special...well, yeah. No one's saying it's an unusual, horrendous, unspeakable tragedy that she's died, but when a celebrity dies it's a way for everyone to have a conversation about life and death and fame without anyone getting too upset and with a common reference point. Whitney Houston's death won't alter my life one bit, but I'd rather pass comment about the nature of life and death in reference to her than in reference to someone I cared deeply about.

Death not being a common enough reference point?
Just to be clear, I pointed out where the obituary was from just incase anyone
wanted to check where it was from (there seemed to be confusion as to if it was real or not)
I didn't say whether I knew Mark or not.
Houston. She had problem.
RIP
Not my joke.

Then out of respect to his family I would suggest you don't post his details here.

Well said.

It's a very good point. 'Respect' can be such a funny word.
The announcement is public...I suppose that makes him a 'public figure'
As for respect...well from what I know of Mark's he's...
Urrgghh.
You do know you don't have to try and make a point on *every* thread?
The latest rumour is that she might have drowned in her bath at the Beverly Hills Hilton after taking too many prescription drugs. That's according to something called TMZ, which I think is a celebrity television channel.
I just hope Kevin Costner gets the sack over this.

It's incredibly impressive that you can answer a post just before someone puts it up.
Oh sorry...smiley face winking.

XoD
Apparently J-Lo's doing a tribute to Whitney Huston at the Grammy awards tonight. Hopefully she won't sing 'On the floor' as that's where they found her.
