Who do you fancy? Page 760

Back when it was safe to post photos of the non-silicon enhanced without the object of your affections being compared to offal, this thread offered an amusing insight into the quirks of human attraction, and some good natured banter. Only the grimly humourless would object entirely to comedy sexism; for the most part it demonstrates a degree of self-insight and is intended to be understood at that level. Comedy misogyny can also be also revealing, but rather than laughing along with the poster, other board members are more likely to find themselves uneasily honing their witness depositions for when they are needed: "Frankly no one was very surprised - of course Carpark claimed that the dismembered body parts were intended to be understood ironically..."

True, but...

irony these days is the last hiding place of the scoundrel. Lads mags with their photoshopped cuties with gaping gobs are being ironic. Aparently.

As are some of the more unpleasant remarks on lads forums about thumping ladies and rape.

Not suggesting such things turn up here. But just to be cautious about using irony as a get out of jail free card.

Look, men looking at women is nothing new. It's scientific fact that men are simulated visually while women are mentally. That is why women prefer erotic books to porn mags. We have to put a personality to someone otherwise it can't happen.

Just because a guy looks at certain types of women, doesn't mean he will throw his missus to the side if they turned up on the doorstep. We wouldn't dump our other halves if Johnny Depp showed up.

This thread was purely designed for the purpose of posting pics of lust objects. If anyone was expecting anything else, tough. This is very clearly not the place for great debates. It's for eyeballing people you fancy. The title of the thread can't make it clearer. yes some people will make stoopid comments but I doubt anyone is really going to take it to heart and start treating genders different as a result.

Men looking at women is not hurting feminism. Jumping up and down when they do does.

:) Roo very interested that you see this thread as 'Clearly for looking at gross pics of women/men no matter however they are portrayed'? Well I suppose if the 'moderators' think we can sink to the lowest common denominator so be it- Enjoy.

I do not think a reasonable expression of dissent is 'jumping up and down'

This pandering to misogyny is most unfortunate.

:D

To fit in with the new junta, here is a lovely picture of One Show Historian Ruth Goodman. Phwoar! Look at her incredible mind! I bet she could teach me a thing or two - about Victorian farming practices.

Being serious though don't most women look kinda like that without makeup?

I do think she's attractive, in the same way Miranda Hart is. I think we're all programed to go for diferent things or we'd all look like Kim Kardashian crossed with Peter Andre. If I'm honest my esoteric tastes in the ladies, is more down to low self confidence. In that I guess I'm programed to be attracted to the aparently attainable in my view (I'm sure Ruth and Miranda have plenty of competition for their charms it's a genetics thing). Or perhaps I just get more attracted to mind/personality. With the less attractive having to work harder in this area?

I dunno, who does?

I think one of the charms of this place is how much the moderators don't get involved unless really needed. If people want to look at pictures of attractive people, fine, good luck to them.

Not really for me but then neither is tripe (though aparently it's nice if deep fried).

That is not what I said. I said that this thread was for posting people we fancied. Women post here as well as men. The fact is the guys simple outnumber us so there will be more girls posted here. It's fantasy. No one in their right mind expects women to actually look like that. No one to my knowledge (checking 750+ pages may take a while) has posted anything that indicates any harmful intent towards women. No one has posted anything hardcore or violent and none of them had a gun to their heads when they posed.

Annie Sprinkle, the artist and feminist says in all of her writings that what women choose to do with their bodies is their choice and if that choice is to make money getting their bits out, they have the freedom to do that. It doesn't make a woman a whore to do so. She still has a mind and a soul.

Thinking that all guys think women are objects and second class citizens for looking at the female body is as offensive as a guy assuming all women are whores because of the picture they pose for. Feminism is about EQUAL rights, not just throwing out the word "sexism" whenever you feel insecure.

If we are going to talk about objectifying women, let's talk about the fashion, beauty, and magazine industry. An industry made up in the majority by women. An industry that sets unrealistic goals for western women, demanding we should weigh a certain way, dress a certain way, plaster ourselves with lotions and undertake surgeries that could cost our lives in the name of meeting the standards of other women.

Challenging me on the subject of feminism is a big mistake given my background. Just so you know.

I thought all ladies ladies-bits looked the same?

Only the black ones.

Sooty, fair point I agree we must not let 'moderators' rule.

Glad to hear your revealing thoughts on relative attractiveness and the opportunity of meeting prospective partners.

:O Never looking here again, just tooo awful, why do guys do this stuff?

Mutable masturbation?...

But you will come here again. People can't help themselves when it comes to being offended. Instead of ignoring this thread and carrying on with your life, you've returned here often to admonish and judge. You love it.

Not really sure what mutable masturbation is - must be like mutual masturbation - but different people show up each time.

Is that equal rights up to the point of being 'a whore'? Surely, whores have minds and souls too.

I thought it was Mutant masturbation....Looks like I'll be sending my Wolverine costume back.

Takes all sorts to make a world.

My local newsagent for some peculiar reason sticks the Guardian next to the grot mags. And well there are guys out there who like; 40+, 50+, 60+, fat, thin, very fat, asian, gingers a kaleidoscope of masturbatory material.
