You can ask them to take it off. You just tell them you do not want your house on their site because you feel it violates your privacy. They will then blur it or remove it.

Unless the UK's laws are radically different, it's not illegal to take a photograph in a public place. Google just removes them on demand to placate the people who think it's an egregious sin to take such photos.
It's not against the law but if would be nice in an area with social housing filled with vulnerable people - some families who have had to be re-homed due to violent partners and such, to be asked if they mind having pictures of their kids playing in the front garden taken and plastered on the web.
Just because it's legal, doesn't make it right. That's just my view. Other people are fine with it.
