Kill It Cook It Eat It!

I could only bare to watch a bit of this.
As a chickenarian I chose to watch this to keep me away from red meats & skip the Jamie Oliver one in order to carry on eating chicken.
However I only buy free range expensive chicken!

I have no problem with people eating meat, nor animals being slaugtered HUMANLEY. However, I dont understand the babies. Who actually wants to eat a 3 week old suckling lamb which is so young, they can barely walk to be slaughtered. Who eats baby goats & weeny piglets. I dont actually know anyone that does?

Is it just posh nosh for the wankers who can afford anything, so eat that.
Or
Does anyone on here actually gobble up babies?

Veal? It's usually Italian gangsters who order the veal isn't it.. Cool

I gave up meat, for good, last year. Partly because I love animals and partly for medical reasons (I'm diabetic and have had high cholesterol in the past).

If you think 'Kill it cook it eat it' was bad, then I can show you an online video that will honestly make you cry at the way animals are treated.

Anyway, I've no problem with other people eating meat, if that's what they wanna do.. Huh?

I was a veggie in my teens but had to start eating meat for health reasons. I now believe it's okay to eat meat and this is the only reason why we should kill any animal but we should limit the amount of suffering our food has to endure beforehand as it's totally unecessary. Because of this, I try to buy free range whenever I can, I avoid all animal tested cosmetic brands, and I still avoid leather as sometimes the leather is not sourced from an animal that was also killed for meat. I know it would be better all around if I went back to being veggie and didn't buy fast food where the meat may not be free range (I say "may"....) but I do need the protein from the meat like a lot of people and doing all the others stuff helps me feel a little bit better as I'm still doing little things to help towards improving the quality of life.

No fankoo on the vid mate. I aint no Chris Langham of the animal world.

I hate cruelty in any form. Especially in regard to the small & vulnerable. The ones who can not fight back. The ones with no chance whatsoever.

My sons dad is a game keeper now. He wasnt when I was with him. Maybe I turned him into an animal killer. Well he is actually a huge lover of animals but it is his job to cull Deer & fox. I made a rule that my son was not allowed to shoot anything but I know it was broken. Anyhoo he is in the army now so has moved on to people Laughing out loud

It's not all bad. My partner has a contact in a farm where they take the dairy bulls who would have been killed at birth and let them live a good, short (but longer than it would have been) life before being killed for veal.

It's shades of grey again, isn't it? Some produce might be judged to be plain unacceptable (e.g. foie gras?) but it all seems a bit of relativistic thinking to me. The only way to be sure you're on the moral high ground is to stop eating meat.

I echo that EMS and Charley. As long as the animals are treated with respect then I have no problem with other people's choices either. But the meat industry has a long way to go.

The concept that really bugs me is the 'live bleeding to death via a cut throat'. Yes, the argument is to remove the blood to help preserve the meat, but isn't that what refridgeration does? Can someone explain it to me.

I too only eat chicken (and fish) and it has to be the top welfare type. I am a cowardly carnivore in that if I had to kill my food, then I would never eat meat. To look into the eyes of an animal would prevent me taking its life. So I'm a cowardly hypocritical carnivore to boot.

Same here. To be honest, although people say that's hypocritical, I respect people way more if they feel like this. Makes them more human.

I pretty much only eat chicken too, but mainly because I don't like any other meat.

They stun the animals before cutting their throats. Well they are supposed too. I know things happen like sometimes the animal can start coming around before the throat is cut. Depending on how long they wait after stunning. The bolt gun is by far more humane than stunning. IMO.
BUT THE BABIES.... Who eats them????????
Dad looks after & kills chickens. They are kept really well by a large farm & are all free range. Dad hates picking ones out though, as he says, it's like playing God. He makes other people pick them.
He also said that little fluffy chicks are gassed all the time. Too many males etc. Women sit & do that. Gas these cute lickle fluffy yellow easter chicks.
Still I suppose it has to be done?

I doubt it.

But I'm sure they think it does.

It sounding more like Animal Auschwitz each time I recheck this thread. :O

I'd forgotten about the poor male chicks, apparently they get turned into fertiliser. :S What a f**king world, eh? All thanks to us.

I have a weird thing about having fresh food so i'd probably enjoy killing something, cooking it then eating it.

SlagA I think they have to bleed the chickens while still alive to pump the blood out. If they just killed them then the blood would stay in the veins, cos the heart has stopped, and you'd get a chicken full of black pudding.

I eat meat and love it I don't have a problem with vegetarians, just the ones who say we shouldn't eat meat because it's killing one of god creatures, sorry but it's the food chain, live with it.

But I have to agree that animals should live some sort of life before they get killed, hell they would in the wild.

Nice one, TGS. I'm a supporter of WSPA too. :D

I have leather settee's & coats & boots. Yet I cant eat the animal it came from. Weird eh!
