I thought taking a CCW into any place that sells alcohol is illegal? Might be different in Texas though, a lot of things are.
It does make me laugh when some Texan's go on about the worrying number of Mexicans invading the state, maybe they're worried history will repeat itself. After all, when Mexico owned it, the lazy, immigrant honky population became so great, they declared independance.
It's legal in Texas unless the place derives more than 50% of its income from the sale of alcohol. In that case, they are required to post a large 51% sign at the entrance to warn patrons that it's illegal to bring a firearm inside.
As for Mexicans, most Texans that I've met don't seem to have a problem with them. Hell, half my neighbors are Mexican.

You know bullets with the steel bit in them, do they have a proper name?
Not sure what you're talking about. There are shotgun shells with steel BBs instead of lead that are required because birds eat the lead pellets because they think they're seeds. All the handgun ammo that I'm aware of uses lead shells.

It is? 6th Street was always full of drunk college kids when I was there. That was pre 9/11 though.
That's one of those situations like Vegas and New Orleans where it's seen as part of the attraction and the cops turn a blind eye to a simple stagger. Piss in public, get loud or obnoxious and they'll judiciously decide to apply the public intoxication and open container laws in a heartbeat.
