No, there were obviously just two series, which I clearly stated in my post. Whistling nnocently

Doc Brown's got a lot to answer for...

Dan

Well that's me entered. It feels weird not to be rushing at the last second. Once I started writing it it just kind of flowed. Just hope its funny and good. I've been analysing it so much I've lost sense of whats funny and whats not.

We'll be interested to know if having an entry fee affects the entry numbers this year.

We really hope that the entry fee will affect numbers, to be honest.

It might deter the dummies who can work out how to press 'Send' but aren't smart enough to see that the organisers of a sitcom writing contest probably don't want to read their poem, novel, three hour play etc.

Or those who send us an 'idea' for a sitcom with the suggestion that we write it, then split the income with them.

You'd be amazed what's out there..

Those f**king c**ts that have the temerity to enter your competition! Eh? What are they like!

Chip, it's more a case of the timewasters who can't be bothered to read the rules, guidelines etc. Hopefully they'll think twice before committing their ten quid.

I'm perfectly happy to read when someone's entered a sitcom to a sitcom competition.

If they send a limerick to a sitcom competition then they're just as you've described.

BTW, if there is anyone out there who wants to send us a limerick, can you wait until after January 24 so we can get £15 out of you?

Cheers.

LOL

Works both ways I guess - I'd read a totally irrelevant limerick for £10!

To everyone else - the message seems to be that they're hoping for fewer entries this year, which would imply that on the current timescale they've had fewer entries than at this point last year.

SO - the odds are in your favour! Get entering!

I'm hoping for:

1) More entries
2) More entries of sparkling quality (subjective, I know)
3) More (pleasant) surprises
4) A headache when it comes to choosing the 32 long list

You got about 1,200 last year?

My prediction (for what it's worth) is that the fee will half it*

Anyone taking bets on this?

*As three five quid scratchcards offers better odds of the money, if not the fame.

I think you've got to factor in entry fee = not advertised on BBC Writersroom = lower still, so my money is on 472 entries.

keep it up.
The odds are improving by the minute.

Actually, having thought about it, the odds of winning 5 grand via a scratchie are over 500,000 to 1.

The odds of winning the Sitcom Mission are around the 1,000 to 1 mark...assuming the script is drawn at random (as last year's winner appears to have been)

I'm in.
