I was brought up in the countryside, and don't recall anyone saying anything racist. The first time I heard someone say something like that was when I was eighteen and had to spend the night in Luton.
I've heard quite a lot of racist whisperings in Somerset, but nothing to speak of in Buckinghamshire.
Had to spend the night in Luton? was that a court sentence?

Was that because everyone in the countryside is white?

Well the inference I was going for is all the well to do city types moving out to villages because of the lack of ethnicity.
