BBC Kids TV Show - Help!

I'm trying to remember a BBC kids tv show which would have been on during 1989/90. It was a spoof of explorer films I remember it centered around an 'Indiana Jones' type explorer who was on the search for some ancient gold. The main man had long dark hair and some sort of catchphrase like "GOING FOR GOLD!!!".

I remember liking it so much that I was planning to write to the BBC to ask if the main character would come round my house.

Any ideas?

Going for gold, wasn't that Henry Kelly?

Try Tv.cream.org... a wealth of old Kids TV shows.

Was it cities of gold?

There was a programme called mysterious cities of gold.

Was yours a cartoon or not, Winterlight?

mysterious cities of gold was mega.

It certainly was.

Not a cartoon and it was British.

Not on tvcream.org either. I've searched on there a few times over the years, but never found anything.

'Mysterious Cities of Gold' was mad-as-f**k! Especially when those Aliens suddenly appeared in it. Also, do you remember how it seemed to be on every week, for about 7 months?! I remember feeling sorry for the poor animators, who must've been working on it for about 6 years! They certainly don't make 'em like that any more.
