Diane Abbott (Newsrevue)

DIANE ABBOTT

AN AIDE COMES RUSHING OVER TO DAVID CAMERON.

AIDE:
Prime Minister - there's a race row unfolding!

DAVID:
Oh, brilliant! Go on - tell me - what's Boris said or done this time?

AIDE:
Actually sir, for once Boris is blameless! It's Diane Abbott who's put her foot in it.

DAVID:
Diane Abbott?

AIDE:
She's accused white people of having a penchant for playing divide and rule.

DAVID:
Blimey!

AIDE:
How do you think we should respond?

DAVID:
Correct me if I'm wrong - but we've got a few black MPs ourselves - haven't we?

AIDE:
Two or three.

DAVID:
Right, well get one of them on BBC News - pronto! Tell them that the official line is - 'Abbott's got to resign!'

AIDE:
Are you sure that's a good idea, sir?

DAVID:
How do you mean?

AIDE:
Well, pitting one black politician against another; could be perceived as...

DAVID:
As what?

AIDE:
Well... as playing divide and rule!

:) Like it!

Bit late, but it's a :) from me.

There's a joke trying to get out there somewhere but the dialogue is very laboured. I'd do this as a sketch with Ed Miliband, Chuka Umunna and Diane Abbott. A couple of black face characters would give it edge but it's ok if it's "ironic" (I don't suppose anyone actually employs two black comedians at the same time) and Ed Miliband has a funny voice.
