Just out of interest, on average, how much do you write a day?
How much do you write a day?
I'm always write.
I write about 3 sketches a month at the moment.
About three hours a day. More on the weekends. Then there's research, filming, editing, sourcing sound FX etc. I'd say about 30 hours a week.
when inspired, eight hours a day. When suffering writer's block none
Since I work full time and I'm tired... I barely get to write 15 minutes a day... I tend to try and pack in a day where I write 2 hours plus, finishing off a projects, sketches, bad jokes ect.
Wish I wrote as much as David

I work full time too, but I'm lucky in that I can usually find a little time to write at the office.
I try to get 1,000 words of unedited a day. And aim then for 600 edited. This all depends on the nature of the project though. I include everything that I write in that target figure though. Because everytime you communicate, it's honing that skill. Er ... hopefully.
I rarely write, usually a few hours at the start of a project and then I don't write again for about a month until the project's been animated and finished. I have to change that balance really.
Not anywhere near enough..
I need more discipline really!

Now you're talking!
I write all day pretty much as soon as wake up in the morning sketch ideas til god knows what time I go to bed alway finking, and jotting things down.
I'm always writing ideas down. As I've said before, I carry a pad with me at all times. I probably come up with at least 10 ideas every day. Sometimes the ideas can be quite complex, and other times they can be really simple, like an amusing slip of the tongue that someone has made, whilst talking to me, which I can hopefully incorporate into some of my characters' dialogue.
Though my sitcom is the main thing I've been working on for the last few years, I'd say half of the ideas I write down every day are sketch ideas. My dream is to get my sitcom made first, then, if that is popular, have my sketches used in a sketch show. One thing I have noticed over the years, is that sketches are much easier to write than a sitcom. Writing a sitcom is like having to put a giant jigsaw together - as well as having to make it funny, you have to make all the jokes fit together, so that the story still runs smoothly.
Since discovering this site back in Oct, I’ve written very little other than ideas, routines etc.
Today after a particularly inspirational afternoon I cam up with the following.
