As a horticulturalist in the West Midlands, winter is December-February.

Stupid question of the day.
What months are considered each seasons in the UK?
In Aus it goes:
Dec- Feb = summer
March-May= autmn
June-August= Winter
Sep-November= Spring
Am I correct in asuming it is the same but opposite for you?
Yep, just factor in it being cold and rainy throughout

Upside down land!
Dec-Feb = winter
March-May = spring
June-Sep = summer
Oct-Nov = autumn
As an experienced horticulturalist, naturally.
You're a gardener then?
Nope. I'm a horticulturalist. I am currently working in the are of botany. You could call me a botanist.
I also study.
I'm just ace, basically.

In theory, yes, but in practise our seasons no longer follow any pattern. At the moment we should be in mid-winter, but the temperatures are more like those of early spring. And in mid-summer, don't expect it to be warm, it's more likely to be cool and wet. But there could just be a drought. Last October should have been autumn but in fact it was hotter than summer (except in Scotland).
The only thing we can predict about the weather is that every month will be "the hottest/wettest/driest/something-ist since records began."
^Yep.
You could argue that, apart from a few days here and there, winter hasn't actually started here yet. It's definitely been weather more suited to late autumn.
reds shouldn't have the impression that that means it's pleasant weather. Just that people haven't started dropping dead yet.
That's true...it's still unpleasant. Just not as unpleasant as usual.
No snow = Winter FAIL.
No snow = happy TB.
I vowed I wouldn't complain about rain as long as we didn't get snow. However, having reached the stage when I can't remember when we last had a day without rain, my resolve is crumbling.
Well this morning, I was strapping down things in the winds. Our street has been affected. We are missing some bits of roof on the shed and our fence is just gone. The neighbours shed was smashed to pieced and the bins were everywhere. There were 19ft waves on the beach and lorries and telegraph poles knocked over.
The dog behaviourist bravely collected my doggy today. He came home soaked and refusing to leave the warmth of the bed.
