Two Pints Series 7 Page 2

''firm and pliant'' Ingrid in Porridge.

2 pints and porridge in the same thread, which one is not fit to be near the other..... :D

Eyyyyyyyyyy! He got it! :)

I cannot believe this is into it's seventh series.

Jesus Christ.

Wasn't that Porridge episode just on the other day?

Yes, indeed it was.

Unbelievable. That's all I can say about this show still being on. For me, it's lowest point was when "Gaz" got fat, and decided to shed his unwanted pounds by having a marathon wanking session.

That was brilliant! They did so well! :) Laughing out loud

Agreed. That was great. Showed off a bit, but worked well. Nevermind the clothes...

Yeah I thoought it was really good.

F**king missed it. Gf watching Phantom of the Opera.
Genuine opinions...?
!

It was really well rehearsed...only slight corpsing on certain bits and a couple of bad camera shots. But over all, I was really impressed...and it was amusing. There was a twist at the end...but I won't ruin it.

Phantom's great. I've got the DVD though, so free to watch other channels. Go me!

Wasn't even close to corpsing! A couple of out of place smirks, but they didn't collapse unable to continue! Camera work was a bit wobbly on a couple of occasions, and slightly out of focus once or twice, but considering it was live, I really can't fault it much. I've seen worse on Hancock.

Great. Maybe they should do them all live! I would imagine it could really enliven a show like that, if done well.

The live one was ok but there was only one funny joke. The camera work made me laugh more. The acting was OK but its so easy its the equivilent of asking a fat kid to act hungry.

I think there comes a time in your life when you have to accept that some comedies are just 'not for you' and you'll never get their appeal. I've actually met quite a lot of 'Two Pints' fans and they genuinely do love the show. Admittedly they tend to be younger, sexier and less cynical than me, perhaps that's something to do with it.

If 'Two Pints' was actually putting obstacles in the way of new comedy styles and new comedy writers then I'd probably take issue with it. From now on I'm happy to take it as it is - a silly, throwaway comedy of its time. I thought the decision to start the series with a live show was courageous and brought some new opportunities to the gag-making.

As a aside note, I recently had two of my sitcom pilot scripts read by the exec. producer of 'Two Pints' and we exchanged a few emails. Although he is Head of Mainstream Comedy at the BBC and my scripts were in no way along the lines of 'Two Pints', he appreciated both the humour in my scripts and the non-mainstream style of comedy I was trying to pursue. He seemed like a genuinely good guy who, though looking for mainstream shows, appreciated non-mainstream comedy.

I'm trying to learn to be less of comedy snob. (Though it's hard sometimes.)
