The Bleak Old Shop Of Stuff Page 3

Meh.

I agree it lost a bit of the extra magic, not being in front of an audience - that sort of silly humour really is improved by an audience - but I still thought it was hugely enjoyable, with lots of delightful trademark Bleak touches, and some great laughs. Really looking forward to seeing where they go with the series.

Never heard Bleak Expectations, but really enjoyed this. Sometimes the absurdity worked and sometimes it didn't, but I would definitely watch a full series.

I enjoyed it, I missed the first 15 minutes though. Who was Fry's assistant? He was great, and the Johnny Vegas urchin scenes. I didn't think the whole drunk on treacle thing worked as it left her with nothing to do but lie there in a slump!

Do you mean Fearshiver (Joshua McGuire)?

That's the one, he was excellent.

If I'm honest I've never listened to the radio series before (for shame), so I'm not in a place to compare and contrast but I thought this was great. Cracking cast, wonderfully written and beautifully filmed. Perfect Christmas television.

I really enjoyed it, although I preferred the short 'mockumentary' which followed on the Red Button. I thought the section on Victorian television (performed by forty-foot wooden automata) was excellent.

Yes, that actually made me laugh more than the actual programme did.

I really liked it. I've been stressed and down and worn out, but this was just the bonkers, very stupid, but incredibly fun piece of TV I needed.

Loved some of the gags, him looking at a Blank Card for the address and looking up to see a street called "Blank White Card Street" got a laugh from me, as did the kid stamping on "Tiny Terry" and getting the cog stuck in his foot. Was also amusing to have the Demon Headmaster of all people wandering about with a goose on his head.

Good festive fun. Cheered me up no end.

I was very disappointed by this - my suspicions were aroused when it just barely snuck into the Christmas schedules (Dec 19th isn't exactly prime Christmas time).

The only bit I actually found funny was Fry and Webb's swordfight.

I liked it. Great backdrops, good silly humour, not too serious, I may get the DVD when it's out. Good stuff.

With a lead character called Jedrington Secret-Past, I decided to give this one a miss.

I'm about 5 minutes into it, does this dung pile of bad Radio 4 leavings improve?

Because frankly it's as much as fun a necroporn epic featuring Little Nel and the Ghost of Christmas Past.

Like a bad sketch.
Only longer.
