F**k me.

Hmmm...

It's interesting that the word 'hate' crops up so often with Gervais, but always about his audience. From where I'm standing most of the 'hate' is on the other side.

Last night's episode had Les Dennis discussing killing himself with pills and Keith Chegwin talking about killing himself through masturbation and auto-asphyxiation and then announcing that he was off to have a wank. Why do Gervais and Merchant humiliate real people in this way with such undignified lines?

It's hard to see it as anything other than a power trip where they can amuse themselves that some celebrities will say and do basically anything to be part of their show.

It's the sitcom equivalent of torture porn, where the characters are subjected to endless humiliation and degredation. The Saw and Hostel franchises distilled into light entertainment. And, like those films, its time has already passed and is starting to look very tired.

The powerful draw of Cat Deeley...

I wonder if she really costs five grand for a night.

I just crack up whenever Gervais calls Merchant a "Goggle-eyed freak".

I'll let you know.

Also thought Cat Deeley's appearance was shocking. really poor. If she can't act (and she clearly can't) they should have just let her down gently as soon as they realised.

I don't think she did any worse han Johnny Depp, who is (or used to be before the Jack Sparrow gravy train) a great actor.

I loved the way she looked at the camera and raised her eyebrow. She showed great comic timing.

If that wasn't a specific direction, I'd be very very surprised. Didn't look like an ad-lib to me.

Like a fool I watched it! I promised myself I wouldn't after last weeks car crash of an episode, but I did. There goes another half hour of my life I'll never get back! This really is it for me now!

I started watching it again, then the washing machine 'misunderstanding' prompted me to look at the wife and sigh, then she said ' well, if you think it's shit, turn it off ', so I did. Why bother watching something you know isn't very good? ( I keep asking myself)

I shuddered a bit when Big Keith popped up in the promo for next week's show. I thought, "Oh no, he's finished sullying our memories of Extras, now he's going to start on The Office." :(

That was just a post credits skit as far as I'm aware, not part of the promo or next week's show.

A lot of people seem to hate the show, but has there been a funnier sitcom on over the last few months? I can't think of one myself. Pete Versus Life? Phoneshop? This is Jinsy? My Family?

There's a funnier one on immediately before this one is broadcast.

Pile of shit

( sorry I haven't said so for a couple of days now)

What is it? I usually watch the show on catch up.
