For those who celebrate Christmas, was anyone ever scared of getting their photo taken with Santa when they were young?
I was never upset or frightened, but I can understand why a stranger in a red suit would be scary to some children.

I remember being taken to Hamlys and thinking that must be the real one, rather than the one in the local shopping centre, with he Beard that was slightly wonky
I think once I was old enough to realise that the Santas in various places all looked a little different, I assumed they were the real santas special helpers.
This seems an apt thread to post the link for a wonderfully crap article:

I don't remember ever getting taken to see a department store type Father Christmas. I was told the real one was in Lapland (or wherever) and the ones in grottos and shops were either his helpers or people dressed up for younger kids (than me).
Seeing as some of them are so unbelievably crap, with rubbish obviously fake beards, I think that's probably the best way to go!
It made the real Father Christmas seem much more magical and special.
I did see a really good one in Debenhams yesterday though. His beard looked real! He was ace.
(By 'see' I don't mean I went and lined up at his grotto and sat on his knee, he was wandering around the shop and being all jolly.)

Poor kid. Hope he gets fired.
A 20-something Santa sounds utterly shit anyway. Even if he hadn't been an arsehole.
I shit myself when plonked on Santa's knee. (That was yesterday)
Nah I was 3. Mums fault. She told me not to approach & accept sweets from strangers, then sat me on some freaky arsed strangers knee caps.
TBH if I sat on Santas knee these days, I would probably swallow him hole.
One gave me a plastic machine gun with a bayonet attached
I'm guessing that wouldn't happen now
It's political correctness gone mad

The Santa deserves an award if he has made 4-year-old kids afraid to drink the unhealthy, overpriced tooth-rot gunk that is Coca Cola. Party on Garth!

My problem is that it's a grown adult looking for naughty girls...
