It's the same where I come from. I think I sound more northern, because I use more northern phrases but when I speak correctly. It's not really north'n or sow'fen.

Had a fantastic weekend at the hunting camp. I didn't hunt but we killed 3 deer, 2 wild hogs and an incredible amount of beer and whisky. My friends escaped injury when they drove much too fast on the dirt roads and plowed through some very expensive fencing with their pickup truck.
Did you eat everything you killed?

No, we left the carcasses to rot. 
Of course the game will be processed. The venison was dropped off at a local meat processing shop which will turn it into lovely jerky and sausage.
The hogs were actually left to rot because they were huge and would have been tough and gamey. They are classified as nuisance animals which are not native and cause damage to crops and pasture. Small ones are good eats but the 200-pound adults are gross.
I should mention that the ranches spend tens of thousands of dollars per year on feed for the deer. The population is carefully maintained and the ones with poorly formed antlers and other defects are the ones that are typically killed. Trophy-quality kills are rare.

I've seen them on the telly. They are hairy and grunty but still quite cute.

P.S. No hunter is such a bad shot that he'd shoot a hog (or any other animal) in the face.
