I was prepared to give this show a chance, even thought everyone said it was dreadful. It is full of the clichés of Gervais and Merchant's comedy; the bad taste, the cluless host, the social embarrassment.
Those prolonged silences where the straight man looks at the camera ironically.
But they forgot to make it funny, I am not sure if when they appear in their own show as his agents, in their huge office with his stand-up advertised on the walls outside, that this is meant ironic. It just feels like ego.
I don't really care so long as it is funny.
This is not, Warwick Davis is ok, but the material is just a rehash of The Office, and Extras, with nothing new.
His character is really just two dimensional, with no real personality other than a David Brent social cluelessness.
I stuck with it to episode three, but have yet to laugh.
If there is another thread of this topic, apologies, I looked but could not find it.
