British Comedy Guide

I read the news today oh boy! Page 575

He's a close personal friend of Comedy Dave. Which makes him an idiot in my book.

Ezzackly.

He is not an avuncular buffoon, he knows exactly what he's doing (as does Boris) and that is appealing to a petrol headed, testosterone fulled male audience that hang on his every word before roaring off in their Subaru Imprezas.

He is a twat. End of.

He does seem a muppet, but if I'd paid my fees to Unison and had gone on strike over the security of mine and my family's future, and the head of Unison thinks his time and energy is best spent involving the police over someone's opinion, especially when it seems to be a poor joke, I'd be furious.

;) Jeremys joke did't offend me, I've always hated the self-opinionated, overpaid twat.

This.

Ben Folds had really bad pneumonia a few years ago. So I'm quite used to musicians having it!
It never occurred to me they could be using it as a euphemism for anything else.

Are you saying Ben is too ugly to get the AIDS?

It forced him to apologise though, so it's a result from their PoV.

I think with Clarky we need some perpective. The unions complained he made his remarks during tea time TV, so kids heard him saying he thought their parents should be shot. Stupid, inapropriate and above all else a mistake for which he apologised. An apology the unions should accept in good grace, not make ridiculous and embarassing threats of legal action.

His boss should also tell him off before an unprofessional twat, same as someone who smokes in the bogs at work or photocopies their arse at a crimbo part.

Clarkson is howeve a total hypocrite on other matters. Mr "ya boo sucks to the EU and their human rights act." Is also Mr "super injunction to cover my shagging shame,."

Super injunctions are part of the human rights act.

We are all aware, aren't we, that Jeremy Clarkson is working when he's on the
TV and radio? He plays a part...a part that lots of people like. You don't have to like him but some of the comments on here a bit strange.

Of course he's working.

He just didn't do his job properly.

Save the waggish comments on executions till after tea time Jezzer.

Apparently the producers okayed the joke before the show.
So it's not just Jeremy who thought it was okay for that time of day.

I disagree. I think he did his job just right. He gets paid for having strong
'opinions' and how well he publicises himself.

'I think you are a dick'. It's a mildly strong opinion viewed in public. Though I'm not selling a book or DVD you understand.

I agree, but it isn't clear whether the opinions he expresses are his own or his character's. It's all very well saying that he is in character when he spouts his far-right bile, but what's the point of soliciting the views of that character? You might as well interview Basil Fawlty or Freddie Star dressed as Hitler.

If as seems the case this is a scripted character based remark he just made it at an inoportune time.

Though frankly I am lost at how his knowingly ignorant, daily mailesque nonjokes are so popular? Exactly how many lynx scented bores are there in this country?

I'm sorry your books and DVDs aren't selling. Keep at it though.

The fact that so many people apparantly have strong feelings for or against Jeremy Clarkson is the really shocking thing.

From my point of view I think it is more the remark not the man. Anyone wading in with such a 'glib' comment would have attracted such a reaction me thinks. Other 'glib' comments recently have been 'damp squib' as uttered by our esteemed leader.

Appreciate the sympathy I believe they're going straight to the bargain basket where they will surely be joined by certain motoring themed items. Mine are just a rant on the culling of TV presenters that are over 6ft tall.
