nb Bussell how long did you last?

Monkey Business isn't a gong show (or at least it wasn't when I did it). I've never actually taken part in a gong show as most of them around here are pay-to-play, which I'm vehemently against. Also, my act doesn't really play well to that 'conquer the audience' sort of night.

I've done Monkey Business before and as David Bussell says, it's not a gong show. I've done it before and it's never gone on until past 11pm when I've been there.

See you there Sammy. Come and say hello, I'm fairly easy to spot - I wear a bowler hat, well during part of my set anyway.

Having seen David's act before, and very good it is too, I have to agree with him that I don't think that it would necessarily work at a gong show - especially not at the Comedy Store. Although I'd be happy to be wrong.

I did beat the gong at Wellingborough on Sunday, although I know that it's a far nicer audience there, so at least I've got some hope, even if it is very slim.

I did this on Monday.

The most demoralising experience I have ever had. I like my routine but it made me doubt everything and I ended up forgetting it and swearing at the hecklers. Not constructive and basically waited for the red cards to go up.

I've thought of a strategy. I shall return. But first I need therapy.
