Help before I go mad

Hi all
I have just come across this forum whilst trying to find the answer to a Saturday night debate.

Does anyone remember an 80s sitcom featuring a green haired punk (Alex?) as someones lodger?

I am convinced that the punk lodger was played by Christopher Eccleston but am now doubting my own sanity.

Can anyone help me?

Liz

Sorry, not ringing any bells for me, on any of those points, and can't find any mention elsewhere online. Sure it was a sitcom, not a comic drama? And a full series, or just one or two episodes?

I'm pretty sure it was a one series sitcom. My memory is very hazy but I have this conviction that it was Christopher Eccleston playing the punk (as a teenager at the time, I had a bit of a crush on him!).
I've checked Christopher Eccleston's biog but it makes no mention although I have encountered this kind of thing before (Neil Morrisey's biog doesn't refer to him playing Elsie Tanner's grandson in Corrie prior to his 'Boon' days).

Obviously I may just be mad ;)

Cheers
Liz

Hmm. And presumably this was a main character? Hmmmmm. Intriguing. *strokes chin*

Any ideas what it was about, this show? Errmmm... Anything else at all?

Sorry not much more to add - must have been fairly low budget as I vaguely remember most of the scenes seemed to be in the house they shared and the kitchen featured heavily.

I was a drunken hormone filled teenager at the time :D

I also used to watch Metal Mickey just because of Gary Shail and the occasional sighting of Pete Lee Wilson :$

It wasn't that thing which starred John Thaw was it? I forget the name, but is sounds vaguely similar. Although the lodger was his son. I think I'm very wrong actually.

"Home to Roost", but I don't recall a punk lodger.

Oh that's it. I think I'm exceptionally wrong. I just remember some idiot, disobedient character.

Yes, Home To Roost. And yes, very wrong.

Definitely not 'Home to Roost' as I can remember that one as well.

What other ideas have been thrown up in this debate Liz?

Filthy, Rich & Catflap? I dunno. I'm just throwing random ideas in here now. Er. Hmm?

Didn't Lofty out of Eastenders play a green haired punk in something?

Can't see anything on Lofty. Green hair doesn't ring any bells at all.

There's a brief mention here:

"At the height of his early fame, he turned down a lucrative role as a green-haired punk rocker in a BBC sitcom in order to play the fool in a production of King Lear in Exeter."
