I think the fact they hacked into 'celebrities' phones is disgusting and unjustifiable. I don't care how famous/rich or not you are, no one deserves it.
To hack into the phone of missing person and then delete messages they had been left, creating false hope for the family that they might still be alive, you can't get any lower.
I just don't understand how any human being could try to justify this with "I had good intentions."
The comment he made about people still buying the paper/s might be true, but I doubt to many people would complain if they stopped printing them.
As I saw Hislop mention on HIGNFY, why aren't they being prosecuted for the laws they have broken instead of all this soul searching about new media regulations.

Totaly agree. The regulations clearly need reviewing but they shouldn't be allowed to get away with what they did. From the coverage we've had here in Australia of The Levison enquiry and the orginal questioning, it seems everyone is trying to pass the buck. Sometimes saying "the boss said so" isn't good enough.

I believe they are. There's an ongoing criminal investigation in parallel with the Leveson inquiry, iirc.
