Teenage Health Freak

Remember this show from the '90s. It was about a teenager and his friends growing up, and was quite funny.

It is easy to forget about it, when our heads is so often filled with everyone saying how different The Inbetweeners is, and how nobody has ever come up with such a clever idea like it before.

I used to watch this! Loved it. Quite Adrian Mole-y.
Wonder what happened to the actor who played him.

I'm not sure I watched the series but I remember reading the book, which I think the TV series was based on. I think it was meant to be a bit educational - I seem to remember it covered lots of typical teenage health queries, but was also quite funny.

I enjoyed it, but I didn't like the final series because Peter never got together with Amanda, he was with another girl that I didn't like. Amanda was better. Alex Langdon plays Peter and Liza Walker plays Amanda.

The book on which it was based was essentially a thinly-veiled sex education manual for 13-year-olds.

Daniel Peacock wrote the series, apparently with Angus Deayton's wife Lise Mayer (from the book, which did have some humour in it).

Same here, I didn't see the TV show, but had the book!

What I don't understand is why Peter, the guy played by Alex Langdon, never got the girl, Amanda Jeffs played by Liza Walker. He was with another girl that he liked. I don't like her, Amanda was better than her.

Look at me, resurrecting an old thread like some sort of f**ken bot!! 😮

I used to like Teenage Health Freak, but hadn't really thought about it for years, until seeing the recent posts on the Adrian Mole thread (Teenage Health Freak was a bit Adrian Mole-y.. as zooo said above, in 2011!!!)

Vaguely similar to the Diary of a Teenage Health Freak book it was based on but actually with some marked differences. I seem to remember Peter (played by Alex Langdon - who hasn't appeared in much else according to imdb) went around filming things a lot - something every sod does now in the age of smartphones, but you had to make more of an effort when you had to lunk round a big chunk of equipment (if you'll pardon the expression).

And his dad was played by familiar face Daniel Peacock (who also appeared in Only Fools, One Foot in the Grave and various others)!
Tony Robinson played the headmaster, apparently, though I didn't remember that.

Peacock co-wrote it, with Keith Allen.
