Enter the 2012 Musical Comedy Awards!

The Musical Comedy Awards is back! Now in it's fourth year, the MCA has grown in stature to become an annual fixture in the comedy calendar and the best place to see the UK's finest up and coming musical comedians alongside some of the best established acts of the genre on the circuit. Over the years the MCA have provided a launch pad to superstar acts like Frisky and Mannish (2009 Finalists), Abandoman (2010 winners) and Jay Foreman (Best Newcomer 2009 and now touring with Dave Gorman) and created a thriving independent platform to celebrate the artform that is musical comedy. The competition has also played host to stars of the genre such as Mitch Benn, David O' Doherty, Bo Burnham and many more. This summer also saw the first German MCA, with a sold out Final at a 400 seater theatre in Berlin (ufaFabrik). There are also plans afoot to launch an MCA in other countries too.

To enter this year's competition, simply upload a video of your musical comedy material to the website www.musicalcomedyawards.com, become a member of the group '2012 Musical Comedy Awards' under the section 'Awards' at the top of the website, then add your video to the group before December 11th. A panel of judges (tbc) will select their favourite 40 acts to compete in heats at the Wilmington Arms London, from January through to March, with the final five acts competing for the musical comedy crown at the Bloomsbury Theatre on April 7th. The winner will receive £500, with the Best Newcomer (sponsored by the competition's exclusive online ticket vendor 'WeGotTickets') winning £200. All competing acts will also have the opportunity to perform at MCA Showcases in London, Edinburgh, or on our Uni tour, co-organised by the agency Red 24 Management. Headliners for the heats and the Final will be announced shortly via the website.
