My sister and her boyfriend did the same thing.
They used to live in Tenerife about 4 years ago as Dive Masters and a dog "adopted" them as his owner, and when they had to leave they took him with them.

Spending £2,000 on a dog is not particularly unusual.
Probably spend a tenner a week on food, vet bills can run into hundreds...
I had a whole pack of the f**kers following me around in India a few years ago. I would have loved to have kidnapped one of them, but I think they mainly saw me as a food, rather than a food source.

The Treasury Department dramatically boosted its estimate of losses from its $85 billion auto industry bailout by more than $9 billion in the face of General Motors Co.'s steep stock decline.
