British Comedy Guide

Why?

I've been lurking around the critique forum for a few week and there's a load of us posting up sketches and whatnot. I'm curious as to what these sketches are for? Do you record them? Send them off to production companies? Competitions? or just to build up a stash of sketches?

Practise, always practise.

Different strokes for different folks. I either post up stuff that has been rejected, hoping that people on here can give decent feedback on what does or doesn't work on it. Can be useful to see what other people think of it, even if you don't like some of the responses (sometimes especially if you don't like the responses). Or, I will post up a sketch I have written that I like, but don't think I can possibly do anything with, just to see what people think. It gives some kind of audience for something that otherwise would never have one. If I write a sketch that I really like, and think I may possibly be able to use it in the future I don't post it up. That's just me.

But when it comes to comps, open talent shows you

1 Want to have ironed out any problems in your writing
2 Possibly have a prewritten weapons grade sketch up and ready to go..

Also it's fun, sharing ideas and dicking about with writing is good fun. I mean one sketch I wrote is going to be recorded 3 years later.

I mean if you're not doing it for fun there's much more productive ways to spend your time.

I think in an ideal world Trinder, good sketches would be accepted. This isn't an ideal world, so most sketches end up posted here.
