I've got one of those, a little Tumbleweed, amazing, can look completely dead but put it in water & it comes back to green life.
Alas I may have drowned mine by leaving it tooooooooo long (weeks) under water.

It's not a question of being 'good enough' to write a book, I'm not suggesting she rattle off a novel and try to get it published. This is for a 12 yr old to try something creative and fun.
Fair enough. I can report that my kids, 9 and 11, really don't enjoy having to plan their stories, they want to just launch in and make it up as they go along. For them, planning just isn't fun, and I've been unable to persuade them otherwise, so if you do find such a book, I'd love to hear about it.
I see there is an online guide, so at the very least, help for kids is out there.

...but it comes across like a teacher giving a lesson, which would probably turn kids off.
But I think Leevil's right, it's a gap in the market. If you could write such a book, whilst cleverly making it fun to read for kids,(perhaps by making it into fiction, about a child writing a story?), the world would be a richer place.
Tried to sleep yesterday, cat woke me up. Tried to sleep morning, cat woke me up. Then postman woke me up. Then phone woke me up 'BT' pissed them off.
Then alarm - not necessary ,so got up for doctors, bin-men/cleaners ensued.
Taxi arrived, so much time spent in temporary lights, I exited and ran to doctors in sudden rain-storm.
When home and drying out, freezing, wet towel, NO milk, argued with partner.
Went to bed, woke up by fire-works, then cat, does HE not hear anything?
Phone call for HIM. Cat out of window, after scratching.
Son rang late asking for food and TV night,... ex-bloody-hausted...
Cat scratching to go out..etc

Luxury. Thank your stars you don't live in an apartment surrounded by four mosques, each with numerous loudspeakers blaring the 4.15am call to prayer (and subsequent wailing prayers) through your walls.
Quote: AJGO @ October 27 2011, 1:05 PM GMTUgh, people who sneeze or cough and don't cover their mouth, or who do and then put their hand all over the bus or train handrail. Stay at home you manky f**kers
Don't ever move to China. Open coughing and spitting are the national pastime.

Didn't notice that when I was there, but it was just before Olympics so maybe they were all on best tourist behaviour. Or they were too busy staring open-mouthed at Western woman; I loved feeling massively tall

Ya, there was a massive campaign in Beijing in the lead-up to the Olympics to stop open coughing and spitting. People were being fined for spitting and even made to pick up their phlegm if caught by cops/public order officials. But much of the rest of China carries on coughing, spitting, queue-jumping and wearing Hello Kitty pajamas down the street (the latter being quite acceptable).

People who think 'Child on board' stickers in their rear car windows give them the right to drive like they're on the dodgems at the funfair.
Yesterday, one such driver backed out of a side street onto the main road I was on without looking....and if I hadn't moved damned quickly, I would have got shunted from the side.
What these people really need are 'No brains on board' stickers.
