Your religion.

I know that most of you are atheists; there are a few other Christians and some are jewish - not sure if they are religiously though or just culturally.

OK - I know religion doesn't make a lot of sense but I just came back from Croatia and the Catholic church I went to was full to overflowing with all sorts of people of all different ages and styles.

I know people love taking the piss out of Christians although they wouldn't dare to do the same to Muslims.

Some very intelligent people are Christians although as I mentioned before realistically it doesn't make sense. Obviously the old testament creation is Jewish mythology.

So who does have a religion here?

Religion is as fascinating as it is frustrating. I enjoy science theories too much to ever put my faith into any God. People should have the right to practice their beliefs. Which I normally follow with, as long as they're not forcing it down my throat. But that sounds too similar to saying "I don't mind gays, if they don't do it in front of me".

It's a shame something that could be so right for humans - peace, love forgiving n all that, is often used for hate and power.

Without sounding patronizing. It does surprise that me people can still believe in anything, anything slightly supernatural. Byt which I mean otherworldly. But modern science, as we know it today hasn't been around that long. So it's understandable.

Ricky Gervais writes some great essays about religion.
(And contrary to popular belief, he doesn't slag off religious people at all.)

There is nothing wrong with the average religious person. They're just like us, just human. It's the extremists, people that go out of their way to enforce their beliefs on others. I don't necessarily mean clergymen, that's their job.

I'm a Universalist! I believe in "TOTAL" redemption. My "GOD" does not punish. I believe in the end> WE ARE ALL SAVED! Why have a Hell? For what? To punish us FOOLS forever? WHY? we are DUMB! We know nothing. Sometimes I believe GOD is a giant walnut? Why Not? It just might be!

I don't have a religion, but I don't care if people are atheist or religious. As long as they don't bother me it's all gravy.

May I ask, were you undergoing a period of personal trauma when you switched?

I'm Jewish and an aetheist

I've gotta say most the people I know who are religious are generally alright sorts, happy enough and may be a bit kinder than the average

The knee jerk dislike of religion is a little silly
