Quote: sootyj @ October 29 2011, 6:42 PM BSTI think it was JohnGaunt right wing columnist in the Sun who said.
"everyone hates the HRA till they actually need it."
Referring to a bit of trouble he had.
I'd like us to be in the EU. But the fact that comissioners expenses are so huge they actually fund truly dodgy organisations is ridiculous.
I suppose I want to be in an EU that's better. And the vision of the truly unified EU scares me.
The commission is a bit of a whipping boy for national politicians but it is actually no bigger than a medium sized council. That's because it doesn't need to be as national civil services do the main work in implementing directives. Also most commission insiders could double their income by becoming Brussels lobbyists for someone like Goldman Sachs. They're not perfect of course but the truth is most EC employees are pretty dull but worthy bunch, you'd even have trouble getting down the boozer after work.
The MEPs though are a scary bunch of the failed and the fanatical.
If one bares in mind Nick Griffin is seen as a bit of a light weight in the racism stakes.

Looks like you have 7 years to prepare:
Thanks DaButt that was hilarious.

I believe there are two Italian MEPs that haven't turned up for a decade. Nice work if you can get it. While the MEPs continue packing up to go to a second parliament in Strasbourg once a month, they are, to say the least, going to have a credibility problem.
Why wwould our ministers ever vote aginst Europe when they have the chance to go there and get paid extotionatly high wages?
It's rather undermined by mentioning that stupid inaccurate cat story again.
You are probably right.
This is though just a benefits/legal swizz that have been happening since time imemorial.
From blocking up windows when the tax collector came by, to hiding the piano at your neighbours when the welfare assessor came by.
In this case marrying some thick bird either looking for some cash in hand or foreign cock. Or even just someone to be nice to her.
I think we need to think of some sort of crime like "falsifying marriage" or "exagerating a relationship" and lock them up or flog them in the town square.
Blaming Europe for our own weedy ineffective courts and legislature is as old as the hills.
I expect it was a Pole cat, with its own shopping aisle in Tescos. They make me The only fair way to let others in would be a like for like quota system. So for every Pole that comes here we have to have a Brit wanting to go there. This would change things a bit. I reckon we'll go from about 2.5 million Poles here to about 3. Aaaah

What has getting out of the EU got to do with judgements made under the HRA?
This story, which you won't read in the Eurosceptic Sun or Torygraph, may shed some light why skilled British jobs have become so attractive to 'flexible' low wage East European labour-

The people mentioned in that article are from Barbados and Pakistan, not Poland.
According to research done earlier this year there are 521,000 Poles living in the UK, which is not quite 2.5 million.
