Topical sketch

Well, it was a couple of weeks ago. Tried the Newsjack thing for the last 5 weeks. Found it simultaneously dispiriting and dispiriting.

By far and away the most frustrating thing is not getting feedback. I do like to learn from my failures.

Sooooo, what are your thoughts on what I think was the best sketch I did?

JUSTINBadly programmed Republican Fem-bot Sarah Palin revealed that she would not be running for President. But what were the real reasons?

AIDEHot-dang, Mrs Palin, Why ain't ya running? Americans love you, Soccer Moms love your all-American, traditional values, nice teeth and Communist paranoia, Hollywood loves the affairs on cocaine, and the bible-belt loves your inability to understand basic scientific theory.

PALINYou see, this is why I'm a world class political inoperative, and you are just...some guy. There's one thing I have in common with every American; white or poor, straight or damned.

AIDEWhat's that?

PALINI ain't running for President. Most Americans never run for President and that's why they'll see me, a regular mom who shoots seals, as their gal for President.

AIDESo, your big play is to not run for President, so all the Americans who also ain't running for President will like that you ain't running for President and make you President?

PALINDarn Tootin'

AIDEBut you ain't running for President.

PALINBut...No...Wait...Ah shoot.

If nothing else, points for brevity?

Like the intro, like the conveying, like the idea, like the twist. Just bad luck?

I agree with AJGO; it's a great sketch with a cool premise. Keep submitting it to places.

Send it to Newsrevue. I liked the logic.

It's very neat and a very funny idea.

I think some of the lines are a little clunky and Palin's examples could be funnier.

Also making Palin and the aide funny may hold up the laughs.

I think it's usually an idea to have one straight man.

Thanks all for kind words and tips. Sooty, good shout with Palin's examples, they're not funny enough. Not sure what you mean by your last two lines though?

Well I mean both of your characters are comedic. e.g. red neck adviser and uber red neck moron Palin.

Maybe if one of them was an absolutely straight Washington adviser whose blandness emphasises Palin's dimness?

A bit like Sebastian and the PM in Little Britain. It's funny because Sebastian is ridiculously camp and the PM is just straight (pardon the accidental pun)

Right, right right, understand now. They are a bit similar aren't they. Could do with a bit more light and dark.
