You know what would be really funny... if one of us had just spent the last few days writing a 300 page spec script to send in... oh, by the way, does anyone have a computer they want to sell, I've just thrown mine through a window in a sudden burst of I'VE-JUST-WRITTEN-A-FOUR-HUNDRED-PAGE-SPEC-SCRIPT rage.
BBC Three opportunity for a sitcom writer.... Page 12
It did seem very odd; why on earth would they throw a pile of money at this company who basically have no show to pitch, no writers and no track record? And of course, the answer is they didn't.

Wow! If you can writer 300-400 pages in a few days ... you might be using the wrong sized font. Or the wrong sized paper. Maybe?
Somebody just threw a computer with a 400 page script on it out of a window at me.
Danny Clever Chops at the BBC has just given a million quid, a bath tub of cocaine and a porn film starring all of the Blue Peter presenters for it.
Thanks mystery script defenestrator!
Quote: Anorak @ October 14 2011, 1:17 PM GMTI once spent a fantastically inspiring weekend about 15 years ago listening to an American movie-making teacher called Dov Siemens explain how anyone can make a movie.
I was just starting out and went to one of his weekends in the early 90's. Agree it was inspiring and incredibly informative. Even if you're sceptical about someone's ability to teach you how to write, sometimes hearing about all the other aspects of the production process gives you a greater understanding of how to write a more commercial script. In my view, you can never know too much.
Quote: Phill @ October 21 2011, 6:31 PM GMTApparently this was in the WGGB bulletin, just so everyone knows:
Scam ad warning
It has been brought to the attention of the Guild that a scam is being run under the name of Eclipse TV, which claims to have been given a "blank commission by the BBC for a pilot sitcom or comedy drama". The spam email goes on to specify several subjects that the production team wants to pursue and urges the recipient to send a spec script or short scene to eclipsetalent@aol.com.When the ad was brought to the BBC they responded saying that the BBC Comedy department would never give a blank commission and that therefore this ad has not been sanctioned by them.
Doh. If only I'd read my WGGB newsletter from the week I was away instead of wasting the last half an hour reading this thread. Entertaining as it was.

Surely at least three of them are dead?

Yeah, it's not a porn film I'd recommend...
