An obvious fake.

How is it obvious?

No smoke or wadding from the shotgun and you can see the hat moving even before the blast.
What's wadding?
Quote: David Bussell @ October 19 2011, 9:39 PM BSTWhat's wadding?
It's how Jonathan Woss clears his dwains . . .

For a second there, I thought that was you in the video, DaButt. Then I noticed the bloke wasn't shooting innocent wildlife.
In my opinion - and I have military experience - that footage isn't necessarily fake.

Light travels faster than sound.
I don't think DaButt shoots animals.

Ahh, so quick-witted and observant. Perhaps you should observe my many posts where I've stated that I've never hunted in my lifetime.

I, too, have military experience but most of all, I have common sense. Even if we ignore the obvious physical fakery, let's look at the circumstances:
1) The man had a tripod set up to film himself. Not all that unusual, but he's shooting at (and missing) targets only a few feet in front of him. Not exactly the kind of thing to brag about in a video, especially since his vest indicates that he's probably an experienced hunter.
2) The man racks the shotgun and pulls the trigger twice after the first 2 shots. Most guns are reliable and always go bang when you pull the trigger. How odd that this one didn't and it was captured on film.
3) Realizing that the gun should have fired, the first thing the man does it set it on the ground and look down the barrel. There are some idiots in this world, but the number who will look down the barrel 3 seconds after a misfire are certainly few in number.
4) The shotgun fires without the trigger being pulled: very rare. Perhaps if it had been dropped or jostled, but this one just happened to fire as soon as he looked down the barrel. Very suspicious.
I don't have the time to pull the video into an editor for a frame-by-frame analysis, but it screams "fake" to my eyes.

Says the bloke with the decapitated crocodile head avatar. But yes, apologies for that.
All your points are nowt more than speculation and conjecture, DaButt. The video quality is poor and isn't conclusive either way.
Let's end the debate there.

It's an alligator and it's the mascot of my alma mater.
Let's end the debate there.
Sure. But if you get bored and do a little searching of its many web incarnations you'll find that the comments boil down into 2 distinct points of view:
1) It's fake.
2) Stupid Americans and their guns! Bwahahahah LOLZ!!!11
3) Who gives a shit.
Just a silly video everyone!
One thing I will say, anyone who looks down the barrel of a gun is an idiot.

I don't know, they could be intelligent to the point of not wanting to live in this world anymore.
I have never watched this show but was shown this by a workling today.
