That is the best. Love it.

I once saw a film something like this. It was on a very polluted pond.

So an Arachnophobic doesn't fear spiders, he's just a bigot.

Yeah that

'nope'

says it all, don't it! :)

I felt the need to slice off my left breast & donate it to a star sign survivor after reading that.

It's like I said to the wife, OK so you've got to have one breast cut off - I can still suck the other..

(I love this thread! Well done Jerf!)

Not since the Americans decided to look for weapons of mass destruction has the phrase "that didn't work" been more relevant.

You are uniquely suited to writing a sit-com for people of limited intelligence

I think it was some crusty old academic who once came out with:

This (man's) work is both good and original.

Unfortunately the good bits aren't original ...
... and the original bits aren't any good!

It's only the bigot of the spiders he fears! ;)

He got over his fear when he realised he was bigot than they were!

From Wikipedia:

Phobia.
A phobia (from the Greek φόβος "Phobos" meaning Fear), is an irrational, intense, persistent fear of certain situations, objects, activities, or persons. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive, unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. When the fear is beyond one's control, or if the fear is interfering with daily life, then a diagnosis under one of the anxiety disorders can be made.

Phobia is also used in a non-medical sense for aversions of all sorts. These terms are usually constructed with the suffix -phobia. A number of these terms describe negative attitudes or prejudices towards the named subjects. See Non-clinical uses of the term below.

Homophobia.
Homophobia (from Greek: ὁμο homo(sexual), "same, equal" + φοβία (phobia), "fear") is a non-clinical term used to describe the fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals.

__
Not to say that one can't develop some sort of genuine psychological aversion one way or another. If you'll forgive the expression. But it becomes tricksy at times; one must remember that homophobia is not smiled upon in today's forward-thinking climate (quite rightly), and whilst one can be self-aware of existing prejudices (we all have them) one must also be careful not to excuse them away.
