BBC Three opportunity for a sitcom writer....
Cheers, Marooned.
"A Butlins style holiday camp in Blackpool"...that would be Pontins then.
"An affectionate sitcom about 'chav' culture set in Liverpool."
My big chance to be the modern day Carla Lane and become a pariah in my home city.
On the one hand I want to say who was it with the holiday camp sitcom. On the other I feel a noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo coming on.
Are these really the best ideas that got pitched?
I'll check back after I've asked the demographic as whether he or any of his mates would watch these.
Any one want to fail with Sootyj?
seriously team up.
I can write gags and rude words.
you'll need to do the rest....
Does anyone know anything more about this? I can't find any trace of the company, the most relevant Google for eclipse TV is a cloud based internet viewing firm, and the contact email address, as if not odd enough that it's @aol, is registered in Virginia, America..

Wasn't that one centred on the security staff at a holiday camp...we had a title writing frenzy on here, now I can't remember! Al Parry?

Odd.
What does everyone think about this opportunity?
I've been re-writing my script after getting it slated on here, and I think it's beginning to look good. It would fit nicely into one of the options (with a bit of editing). Worth sending it over?
When it reads 'male escort' is that just a male version of Billie Piper's high class prostitute TV series?
Our production team are looking to make a programme about one of the following subjects:
1. A sitcom about two rival Drag Queens.
2. A Comedy Drama about staff at a Butlins style holiday camp in Blackpool (NOT HI-DI-HI) Must have drama elements.
3. A sitcom about a Young Male Escort (Gay or Straight).
4. An affectionate sitcom about 'chav' culture set in Liverpool.
What? What a totally arse-about-face way to go about producing a comedy. Instead of beginning with good writers and a good idea, you have four random ideas scribbled on the back of a fag packet and put those out there for unknown writers to wring the life out of.
My theory is this is a reality show looking at the behind the scenes creation of a sitcom that's doomed to failure.
I shall, of course, be pitching a script.

BBC3 have given a blank commission for a pilot like Benidorm, Pheonix Nights, Shameless and The Royle Family and their ideas are - a male escort, scouse chavs, a Butlins-style holiday camp or some drag queens?
My theory is this is probably genuine...unfortunately.

While I understand your point, I do feel that these ideas can be worked with and made in to good comedy.
True - I suppose anything can.
To be honest I'm not a big fan of any of those shows and I'm totally uninspired by the ideas. A bit depressed that the BBC might offer a 'blank' commission to a prodco saying 'Gimme something like that...but different.'
Sometimes wonder if my dislike of that kind of show is because I'm from the North-East rather than the North-West - but I love Victoria Wood.
