Gyms

Oh I tell ya, Gyms are full or writing material :D My Dad has been annoying me for ages now to "hit the Gym" with him and finally I gave in!! Im kinda glad I did, there are some many weird and wonderful things that go on in gyms...more weird than wonderful :)

Anyone else "Pump Irene" and have the same thoughts??

James

no gym for me!

im far too ashamed of my pasty, puny body

Gyms are very twee! Just go for a walk, ya bam ( slipping into Rab C mode).

I've been going to the gym for about a year and a half now and I love it. I mostly go on the weights, but sometimes use the cardio equipment. I wished I'd joined one years ago really as tt's a good challenge. And now my pecs are like a firm pair of breasts - hours of fun.

Anyway, who else is a gym bunny? I know Ellie joined one recently, but there must be others.

I don't want a flabby body. But most of the time it's incredibly boring...I prefer running outdoors.

Treadmills and exercise bikes are certainly mindnumbing. Plus you can't train as intensely on them.

You can do lots of exercices (pull ups, push-ups) outdoors...in the forrest for instance. But in winter it has to be the gym. At least there are nice girls...sometimes.

I keep considering it but I too obsessed with the idea that I can build my own gym, with pieces of shoestring and tin cans. I run because it's free (excluding the cost of running shoes). I've yet to move onto weight training though. I just imagine I'd feel too self concious to hang about in a gym and use the equipment in a non-ironic way.

That was how I felt. I thought I'd just buy some weights and do it all at home, but there's too much fiddling about changing the plates etc, so you don't get a very good workout. At the gym you just chuck down one set of weights and pick up the next set. It can be quite intimidating going over to the free weights section and hanging round with 'real men', but you soon get over it.

Hmmm...you mean like that?

Are you now a real man, Ben?

Gyms? What a load of shite! Get out and hunt a few mamoths like your ancestors did. That'll keep you fit.

Nah. Still a phony.

Phew! Because I was ready to be intimidated by you for a moment there.

I like the idea of a personal trainer. Although it's essentially just paying for a gym friend so you don't feel lonely and self conscious working out.
