THE SITCOM TRIALS - October 21st 2011 Manchester Page 17

Couple of strange votes in on the sitsvac forum--they read like they've been written by the same person...But I could be biased because I got a "NO" in one of them!

They also gave apocolyptic cake sale a Yes and a Maybe, They could at least have given it a No as well to even it up.

There will be blood, I tell ye!

Sad thing is that I think Kev will give me no points instead of a "well deserved" 3... Teary

And you said maths wasn't fun

My votes are;-

A Fish Tale - NO - Not funny, overly factual and the characters didn't match their descriptions.

Animal Something - MAYBE - Can't see how this would play out over a series format.

Apocalyptic Cake Sale - NO - Nothing much happened and the characters were not very engaging.

Art For Arts Sake - MAYBE - More rounded characters, well written with a good twist.

Plain As Day - YES - Slightly offbeat situation, but real enough to work.

Go Wild In The Country - NO

Kiss Me Son Of God - No

Doing It For The Kids - YES - although too much emphasis on comic mishearing/misunderstanding. Situation and characters were credible though.

Love Bites - MAYBE - Some good lines, but a bit too much of a nod towards 'Men Behaving Badly' mentality.

Leaping Tiger - NO - Started slowly and got better but didn't really grab me.

Love Me Tender - NO - Too Jewish - great critique from me there, I just mean not to much appeal for those outside the joke target area.

Job Club - NO - Too many characters to assimilate and care about.

Not At The Allotment - Yes - Characters quickly outlined and some good lines, and a weird ending. Liked this.

Stepping Stone - NO - probably would not stretch to run in episode format.

Taking Of Peckham 123 - YES - Stupidly endearing characters with dialogue to match.Really enjoyed it.

Talent Spotters - NO - Too much 'for writers' material, not enough for the general public.

The Mad Axe Man And Her - NO - Not really an ongoing sitcom setup - and very wordy.

The Tragic Life Of Roger Bulwark - YES - Like this too, but needs tidying up to give it a real edge.

The Wed/Thurs Club - NO - Not for me.

hello gents. and gentesses.

long time listener first time caller so please forgive any errors or poor ettiquette (and poor spelling aswell).

Just wanted to say hello and good work everyone. not read them all yet but will certainly vote before it closes this evening.

I think it's just spiffing that everyone has written something and the few I have read have been grand. I'm as giddy as a cat reading the reviews and will have mine up asap.

and who remembers the inventor of the video game? eh eh?

Thanks everyone for the votes here and on the sister forum. Voting is now closed. I shall be totalling up the votes later (I am currently in a hotel in Edinburgh working on an iPod without my spreadsheet and I have a flight home to go through first) and announcing the final five scripts to be showcased as soon as possible.

Because I allowed leeway for late votes after the midnight deadline, I shall be counting them all but, to be scrupulously fair, will be keeping the post-midnight scores separately and balancing up carefully how they affect the end result, realising there is great sensitivity about rules and compliance in these situations.

Thanks to all the writers for their splendid contributions and to all the readers and voters for taking the time and effort to participate.

So, it's the old waiting game now. Good luck to all. Thanks to everyone who took the time to read, comment and vote.

Thank you to everyone for reading the first chunk of Axe-Man....... win, lose or draw objective feedback is what it's all about to help with the ongoing writing/re-writing - thanks to Kev for providing the opportunity .......... I seem to be turning into Young Mr Grace so I'd best be off.

Good luck everyone Wave

Thanks to everyone that read and voted on The Taking of Peckham 123 and good luck to everyone else that entered...

I'm sure the adding up of the votes shall be as painless as the voting process...

red zed, sorry for the initial no. the maybe is what stands. the no was based on reading it last week but after re reading I was tickled by a couple of lines. no sand bagging intended :) also I think the taking of peckham 123 is the best title and ifthat's not a satsuma in your stocking I don't know what is :)

Weeman, I wasn't referring to you as a sandbagger, I think you did actually review all the plays so very well done and thanks...

And I'd much rather be a satsuma than a Jaffa, any day of the week...
