Newsjack - Series 5 Page 48

BBC's 'Delivering Quality First' report (essentially a report on the cuts) states:

[Radio will be hit harder. The report says: ]'The current limited comedy offer on Radio 5 Live will be scaled back, the volume of comedy on Radio 2 reduced and there will be a reduction in the commissioning budget of Radio 4 Extra. Radio 4 comedy will be unaffected.'

As far as I know, the commissioning budget of R4Extra can't be more than Newsjack, can it? :( Or have I missed something?

Shame about 5 Live too, as that's pretty much Fighting Talk (best show on the radio, in my opinion)

Oh no, it's like the pope scaling back the paint budget for the Sistine Chapel ceiling. I personally can't imagine living in a world without "Arthur Smith's Balham Bash".
If that goes, I go.

Arthur Smith's Balham Bash, Sarah Millican's Support Group and Meet David Sedaris were all Radio 4 shows before 4Extra came along. Certainly as their respective first (and second) series were broadcast before 4Extra even existed!

I'm pretty sure they're commissioned by Radio 4 for Radio 4 but 'premiered' by 4 Extra without taking any of their budget.

Well, with my track record of getting something on every 4th episode of NJ that I submit to, my next success isn't due until episode one of the next series, so there better be one (there are, possibly, other reasons why the show should continue, but this is the main one). ;)

I f**king hate the tories.

Just waiting for the e-mail not to come, then I can get on with my evening.

They're very efficent. Mine doesn't arrive at exactly the same time each week.

I decided to spare myself the angst by not submitting anything this week. I'm still here hoping that one of the previous week's submission might have been reworked.
