I did one.
Tasteful....but no doubt in the bin as we speak.

I've got six minutes to try to get somnething funny out of Theresa May and the cat flap. But it's not happening.
Couldn't find an angle on Knox that I was comfy with, I don't think it's off the agenda, but it would have to be tasteful and funny...maybe take the piss out of the italian police or something. A hard act.
I got a handful of one liners off, need to focus more next week. I was happy with a couple though.
One liners are great becuase they're so much more likely to be used and you can submit in droves, the purist in me has set my ambition on getting a sketch on, that would be fantastic.
It's a shame that Cat-gate broke late - or Cat-Flap, if you will - as that will feature in some shape or form.
I would have said the Knox story was off limits but there's definitely potential in the way several online newspapers (not just the Mail) ballsed up their announcements and said she'd been found guilty of murder, with associated mythical reactions.
I watched the verdict live on Sky and the whole thing, with them finding her guilty of the lesser charge first, had an X-factor feel to it . . . and the seeds of a failed Jackapp were thus sown
I think stories like this are always worth trying to write about - but ONLY IF you have a fresh and inoffensive angle.
(which kind of touches on a big lesson with these shows - don't write your first response! Think as hard as you can about the subject and try to come up with an unusual angle. If you send in the first gag that occurs to you, then it'll probably have occurred to others as well. And in the case of the Knox trial, it's probably below the belt)
But if you can find the funny in a prominent but really tough story - it's a great way to attract the attention of producers!
Quote: swerytd @ October 3 2011, 9:52 PM BSTIt's pretty short, tbh. There's about 45 minutes of recording, a few pick-ups afterwards and the whole recording probably takes about an hour.
Thanks Dan!
Even if I don't get any material on this week, at least I can have a fake distinctive laugh broadcast. Might try a Jimmy Carr...
I'll try to report back with a list of sketches they perform.

The key thing is to add "although I'm sure I've forgotten a couple" to the end of your report, so as not to deprive us of another few hours of misplaced hope...
Just say "There was one that featured David Cameron" and most us will sleep easy tonight.

To help me, that sentence would have to be "...or was it Rhianna?"
Who wrote that one with the thing about the news? That was brilliant!
Damn. That wasn't me...
Dan

Was it about a weatherman slagging off the Tories?
Saw the recording tonight, had a really good time. Really funny, and great to see the cast obviously having fun with the material.
Here's some of the sketches I remember:
Eric Pickles bin collections
Graphene
William Hague's late night TV channel
Jimmy Saville
David Cameron cuddly toys
Ed Miliband's memory
American influence in France
Bookshop
Olympic track finished early
Schoolteacher
Northern child
Theresa May's Diary
Obviously there's one or two I may have forgotten.
Oh, and they did one of my JackApps.
It's so cool actually seeing your material being performed, I got a real buzz. Now I just have to hope it makes the final cut.
