Newsjack - Series 5 Page 45

I've submitted two sketches and thirteen one liners.

Three sketches sent in.

I made sure to include the word 'foetus' in each sketch just to ruin JezG's chance of getting a credit.

(Only joking!!!)

Ha ha Jinky - I shall set my lawyers on you!

Have done a Deal or No Deal themed sketch this week, so will be keeping an eagle-eye out for any future characters named 'Joel Edmunds' or suchlike. ;)

Ideas for about 4 or 5 sketches this week, but only the time to write one. I'll let my one liners bubble away overnight and see which ones still look fresh tomorrow afternoon...

Question...

How long do the recordings usually last? I'm planning to go on Wednesday, and I wondered what time I could expect it to finish. Anyone know?

Cheers...

Just one sketch from me - an interview about the 80mph speed limit and other government plans to improve productivity. I know what you're thinking; with a premise like that the sketch pretty much writes itself ;)

Is everyone else staying away form the knox trial? It's a big story but not sure how appropiate a jack app about it would be

One sketch about MasterChef from me. Not very topical so I ain't getting my hopes up.

Generally, if the story involves someone who's died I don't consider it.

I've been steering clear for the same reason, but I think there is something to be said on the subject, especially the media treatment of the story and the whole Foxy Knoxy Bolloxy.

It's pretty short, tbh. There's about 45 minutes of recording, a few pick-ups afterwards and the whole recording probably takes about an hour.

Dan

But the whole queuing and waiting takes longer...

I'm steering clear of that one myself.

Think I've reached the "what's the point?" stage.

No sketches submitted.

No one liners even considered.

Booked staff appraisals for most of tomorrow afternoon, so no booking a meeting room and skivving off to write gags (my usual Tuesday MO).

I do that with NJ sometimes. I submitted no sketches, but have just sent 9 one liners (apps to be precise). Not very good ones either. I'm getting worse and haven't even been on the show yet.

All the more chances for us real men......

As I've said before, this lark isn't just about being funny. It's about writing so much stuff that they have to weigh it rather than read it.

(And sharing a staircase at Cambridge with a future BBC associate producer*, obviously)

I can't seem to find the time to write sketches. I'm okay if I can come up with a good punchline and work towards it, or come up with two or three linked gags, but other than that, they don't seem to work for me. Mind you, it looks like my one liners don't either. In spite of strong oppositon of 3,000 other one liners to look at, I've sent in around 10. The more writers that drop out, the better the odds are, I guess.

An unusually productive week for me on the quickies, I'm relatively optimistic.
