Have you got that Smart TV on your Samsung? It certainly to my knowledge looks the most feature packed TV add-on thing. I do hate the thought of buying a new TV though and the software on it becoming quickly out-dated, making you resent your £500+ flickering rectangle.

There needs to be a standard out there, with easy-upgradable firmware. But I bet we're a while off that yet.

Does any of this makes sense?

I have indeed. In fact it's this one

I've not got the pricey wireless dongle yet, but will do eventually so I can use iPlayer on it. I don't think there's ever a good time to buy technology, although the 2D LED sets are pretty reasonably priced at the moment because the shops are trying to flim-flam people into buying 3D sets.

Don't bother with the wireless dongle nonsense. If you don't have an easy connection at your TV already, get something like this: http://www.ebuyer.com/160665-extra-value-200mbps-powerline-adapter-twin-pack-pi699e2-2-3-twin

Very nice. Yeah I've noticed the mentally low falling prices of LED TVs lately. Still, I wish 3D would f**k off. Because the moment anyone of us buys one, they'll bring out glasses-free. Not that anyone should buy one anyway, ever.

I've always like Panasonic, but they mainly deal with Plasma which raises the cost buy about £100+. It doesn't really matter at the end of the day but Samsung keep catching my eye. The flirt.

I heard about that years ago and never knew why it didn't take off more. This is before WIFI, so maybe the industry knew that wireless was coming, I dunno?

Glasses-free is available, but it's incredibly expensive and requires the viewer to be sitting in a very precise position. Obviously the price will come down in time, but I'm not sure about viewing angles.

It's not as mainstream because it's not as flexible, and with the rise in popularity of laptops and other such small devices, having a data connection that's as mobile as the hardware makes sense. Likewise, net-connected big ticket items, like TVs, are only now coming to the fore - and there's no point in having a flexible connection like WiFi connected to your fridge or 60" TV, because they're never going to move.

I meant widely available at a reasonable price. Plus, it's still in it's first generations. So they'll probably have to keep going back to the chalk board before it's ready to be released into the wild.

The problem is that even if you did bring out a fantastic 3D television, with full HD and a complete range of viewing angles. You'll still always have to sit in a certain way or adjust your viewing habits in an uncomfortable way. No longer will you be able to lie on the sofa, with one of your eyes squashed up against a cushion or arm rest. Because the 3D effect will be lost and you'll be looking at an imagine with double vision. Also a quick shout of to one eyed people and pirates. The poor buggers.

I'm still waiting for the fridge that comes to you. Acting as both a food delivery service and temporary cooling fan.

Yeah I did think about this.

I also got a FreeSat PVR (Samsung SMT-S7800) with it which is very nice. Samsung have an offer on until 31st October where you can get £30 refunded so it's a pretty good deal.

Careful when looking for alternatives to those TV dongles. When I researching a TV, I found out that I could spend £90 on the official dongle or £30 on a Netgear alternative but it would also involve some tweaking via the router and some other bollocks that would give the average person a headache.

Show-off. The latest Mac I have is a 10 year old eMac. Look that one up. It's desperately shit.

F**k me, what a dinosaur!

Not actually a gadget but I bought one of these when the phone extension wire that ran the full length under my house (what a bastard that was to install)failed and I needed to replace it to keep my Sky box conected to it. Works fine with Sky+ and Sky+HD

I've swapped my knackered old TV for a lovely new Samsung LED/LCD one. Despite my cynicism, HD is actually pretty good. Certainly a lot better than cleaning my specs prior to watching the old set. Unfortunately the arrival of the new TV has also coincided with my youngest son deciding he wants to draw on everything, so I've had to surround it with sandbags and barbed wire.

:D

I've got a TV that I simply don't know how to use. It's got things I don't know are even on there. It blows my mind when I press the menu button by mistake, eh??!! But with all that stuff on it, the hardest thing to effing well do on it is TURN IT ON! It can take half an hour to turn on, as I send it into standby mode or whatever. I'd swap it for an old fashioned set anytime that just came on when I pressed the on switch. Pirate

I have a new dinner table that I've put my landline phone on, so it's technically a new gadget.
