Skit Comp 17 - 24.9.11 Page 3

I think it's one sketch per entrant Dellas
And it needs to be before the hidden deadline.

As regards the rules.
A reset would be good for me, as I haven't posted since going over 200.
But If I was Kasm or Otterfox I'd want the chance to grab the top spot before it went away. It is definitely fun fighting your way all the way up there ( over a very long period often when not many people are interested )

As for changes, I'd say don't give Michael any more work than he has already. If he his happy with a slight points tweak then that should be enough, especially if the current system is putting people off contributing.

Someone else could easily start a Newsjack comp or whatever & I think it would be popular

:O OH Sorry did'nt know!

Does anyone care that much about the leaderboard?* Surely the satisfaction is in posting the sketch that wins that week.

*Okay I once pm'd Michael informing him that he had missed points off my total, but I was only 5 points behind Steve at the time.

:D

If we implement the suggested tweaks, the main leaderboard would still be updated after each 3 month/6 month comp.

You're right about it being extra work for Michael, but I'd be happy to help out with the admin if he'd like (I'm using spreadsheets constantly so it would only take me a minute or so to add the totals from a new comp to the overall leaderboard).

There's also satisfaction in knowing you've got a chance of winning. Otherwise the competition becomes one big ego trip for the top five. As it stands, if you were a beginner, you'd have to win every week for the next five months to stand a chance of getting the number one spot on the leader board. How discouring is that? I say, let's encourage new folk to cut their teeth, as I did (I'd never written a skit before this competition) as well as increasing the number of participants.

Don't be scared of competition guys!

I'm more than happy to have my score removed if it helps.
It seems like more trouble than it's worth at the moment.

Don't be daft Steve. Besides, Kasm has just overtaken you anyway :)

Thank F**k for that.

Well done Kasm

As you were folks

Thanks Steve.

By the way - I vote that we rename the site Kasm's Comedy Guide

Oi, that was a joke guys - honest :)

Anyway, so what are we going to do about the comp?

You're in charge now Kasm ;)

Start from scratch I think. Nil points all round... it's not like the people at the top are going to get a prize or anything. It will tidy the leaderboard up as well because, to be brutally honest, it's looking rather slipshod.

As far as I am concerned, the skit comp is the best thing on the site. Hats off to Mr Monkhouse! It would be really nice to have the next theme, so we've got something to get our teeth into while the details are being decided.

Hi and thanks for your comments, especially the nice ones (you know who you are). As usual the one time I'm off the Net is the one time I oughta be on it... To keep the thing up and running (oo-er) I'll do this week's as normal, then over the next week we can count up votes and decide on the way forward. From the comments I gather you'd like a regular (say, 6-month) restart with a hall of fame - plus other comps alongside this e.g. Newsjack, sitcom-mission / trials? Fine with me!
Cheers
Mick
