That was my favourite too. It was quite brave - the slow build-up with Lauren Bacall doing her sex-kitten bit. But it made the punchline even better.
Quote: Frantically @ September 26 2011, 3:46 PM BSTHi Stephen. Mine was the first Planet Dinosaur sketch. I actually considered not sending it cos it was loud and a bit silly, but I'm glad I did now.
Three sketches and a handful of one-liners off for me.
Great work with that one! I'd just watched the first episode and that pretty much summed up how I'd felt about PD. (But having the mind of a 12 year old boy loved PD too).
Did you write the other ones or were they added afterwards? Shows they must have loved it too to turn it into a feature.
Quote: Hennell @ September 26 2011, 6:59 PM BSTMy contribution to last week was a short vox-pop featuring a man cementing his penis to a caravan. Comedy gold!
Good to see you took my earlier advice and went with a knob gag!
I tried so hard to find the funny in Dale Farm but failed miserably so well done!
Oh let's just go with one big long post then.
What did I submit or as it's know this week how did you do the neutrino story?
My neutrino story - I did a From the Archive story from 3011 and how time just didn't work anymore. Throw in a few cheap gags about Life on Mars and celebrating Christmas in September and voila.
Barack Obama's shamelessly appealing for the Jewish vote and turning into Woody Allen (That's one for the 18-24 demographic)
A silly one about recommendations that new houses be fitted with extreme weather features - a holding pen for pairs of animals in case of flood, ruby slippers in case of hurricane etc.
Oh check out killer low key news story.
Ed Balls is to give his kids his missuses name to they won't get bulled at school
ANy comic who can't do something with that should join a nunnery

Thanks Stephen. The others were added afterwards by other writers, so it's good to know they like the big daft silly stuff as well as the political stuff.
I know what you mean about having the mind of a 12-year old boy - to be honest, another reason I almost didn't send it is that I love Planet Dinosaur! It's got dinosaurs...that scared the dinosaurs!
Four one-liners so far. Two of which, I'm particularly proud of.
Hoping to get up to twelve one-liners by 5pm tommorow.
Saudi women being given the vote is a goldmine for me, representing two of my four jokes.

I'm sorry 404, but if you're even that proud of the jokes which get in, what does it say of the people who sub one-liners every week and don't get anything?
Myself, I have given up on the one-liners. They're just too easy, and too much competition for space.
They're too easy?
I think that if you write something that you're not proud of, then you should rewrite it or scrap it and write something else. I hope that those who submit unsuccesful material each week are also proud of their creations despite the lack of success.
Writing one-liners is easy. Writing good one-liners that you feel very pleased with, is more difficult.

Yet we have heard a few posts ago that a sketch of which wasn't even going to get sent in by the writer, did actually get done; and this isn't the first time such a thing has happened, I remember on a previous series the writer said they chose what he thought was the least funny of his offerings.
Just sent off my one-liners. I decided to ditch a few mind after noticing on the Newsjack twitter feed that they had enough about CERN and the neutrinos.

I have one about the neutrinos. I think I'll leave it in, I have nothing better to replace it with.
You will no doubt see it on the rejects thread on Friday.

Leaving mine in too - I choose to read their tweet as saying 'don't waste time coming up with new jokes on those' rather than 'cut out any you may have already written'.
Hello - I haven't been on this forum since February and season 4. Not that I'm shallow, but hey... I've just sent my babies to the front. This is the third time I've submitted stuff. No success yet, not that I'm bothered, of course.
Is the reject thread still going? I'll put up my rejected but brilliant one-liner from Ep. 1.
Just listening to the Sophie Dahl sketch from Ep.1. Mmmmmmm......
Errrr anyway, yes. What about that comedy then? Ah-hem.
sent 12 onliners and 6 corrections
